A Free Day of Learning - 3 Continuing Education Courses 7 CEUs Available
We are seeking approval for these courses in accordance with the mandatory recertification requirements for Fire Safety Inspector and Fire Code Administrator under FAC 69A-39.009.
These three courses have been approved for a combined 7 contact hours of continuing education credit for Fire Code Administrators, Fire Inspector I and II, and Instructor I, II and III levels.
7:30 am - 11:30 am: Fire Flow Requirements (4 ceus) presented by Pasco County FM Karl Thompson
Course Description: Determining the required fire flow for a building using the provision of the Florida Fire Prevention Code and applying reasonable alternatives when it is not practical. Topic covered include:

review of the water flow requirements as defined in the FL Fire Prevention Code

review of the fire flow requirements as described in NFPA 1:18

review of ISO fire flow calculations

review of alternative water supplies as described in FNPA 1142
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Advantages of Fire Prevention in Improving your ISO Rating (2 ceus) presented by Pasco County FM Karl Thompson
Course Description: review of the ISO rating system and the 5.5 bonus points for fire prevention
3:15 pm - 4:15 pm: Summary of Important Code Changes for 2019 Cycle (1 ceu) presented by Pete Schwab VP Purchasing and Engineering Technologies, Wayne Fire. Topics covered include:

highlight major code changes in NFPA 13, 13 D and 13 R in the first draft

make a code comment on one of the NFPA documents

discuss the reorganization of NFPA 13

discuss the upcoming first draft public inputs for NFPA 14
